Abstract

his classroom action research aims to improve student learning outcomes in Integrated Social Studies through the implementation of a problem-based learning strategy at SMP Negeri 1 Hiliduho. The research subjects consisted of 29 eighth-grade students. Data were collected using observation sheets and learning outcome evaluations conducted across two cycles. The results showed a significant improvement in learning quality. The teacher's activity observation score soared from 59.37% in cycle I to 98.12% in cycle II, while student activity increased from 53.58% to 80.88%. The average student evaluation score rose from 64.57% in cycle I to 78.79% in cycle II. The classical completeness percentage also increased sharply from 62.06% in cycle I to 96.55% in cycle II, exceeding the target success indicator of 75%. In conclusion, the problem-based learning strategy is proven effective in optimizing engagement and increasing student learning outcomes.
