Abstract

This study aims to improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Think Pair Share (TPS) cooperative learning model in Integrated Social Studies subjects for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Alo’oa in the 2017/2018 Academic Year. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is implemented in two cycles. The research subjects are 28 students. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Think Pair Share model is able to improve teacher activity, student activity, and student learning outcomes. In the first cycle, the percentage of student learning completion reached 60.71% with an average value of 75.13, while in the second cycle it increased to 85.71% with an average value of 86.39. Thus, the Think Pair Share learning model is effective for improving students’ Integrated Social Studies learning outcomes.
