This study aims to evaluate the physical, mechanical, and durability performance of concrete utilizing seashell waste as a partial replacement for coarse aggregate to support infrastructure development in island regions. Island and coastal areas frequently face challenges regarding high conventional material logistics costs and environmental pollution issues stemming from the accumulation of local fisheries waste. Employing a true experimental laboratory approach, testing was conducted on various seashell substitution levels of 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30%. The test results indicate that seashell waste substitution up to an optimum limit of 10% still yields compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and physical characteristics that meet structural tolerance thresholds without drastic performance degradation. However, higher substitution levels trigger reductions in mechanical strength and increases in porosity due to the porous physical nature of the seashells. These findings confirm that the utilization of seashell waste at the 10% optimum limit offers an effective dual solution: providing an economical and environmentally friendly alternative construction material while supporting the implementation of a circular economy in coastal island regions.
