Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the act of presenting another person’s ideas, words, or work as one’s own without proper permission, acknowledgment, or citation. It may occur intentionally or unintentionally due to improper referencing.
Plagiarism may take several forms, ranging from literal copying to paraphrasing another person's work without proper attribution. The following situations are considered when determining plagiarism:
1. Literal Copying
Directly copying another author’s work word-for-word, in whole or in part, without permission, acknowledgment, or citation. This can be detected by comparing the original source with the submitted manuscript.
2. Substantial Copying
Reproducing a significant portion of another person’s work without permission or acknowledgment. This includes both the quantity and the intellectual significance of the copied material.
3. Paraphrasing Without Citation
Rewriting ideas, words, or phrases from a source without proper citation or acknowledgment of the original source. This form of plagiarism is often more difficult to detect but remains unethical.

-
Using terms, words, sentences, data, or information from a source without proper citation.

Quoting material from a source without acknowledgment.
