Author Guidelines

1. General Requirements

Manuscripts submitted to GEN BIONIX: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Biologi must be written in English and have a total length of 7–12 pages, including references. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two independent reviewers to ensure the objectivity and quality of the evaluation. In addition, all submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software, with a maximum similarity tolerance of 20%. Authors are expected to submit original works that have not been published or are not under consideration in other journals.

2. Title and Author Information

The title of the manuscript must be concise, informative, and limited to a maximum of 16 words, reflecting the core content of the study. Authors’ names should be written in full without academic titles, followed by their institutional affiliations and countries. The corresponding author must be clearly indicated, including a complete mailing address and an active email address to facilitate communication during the review and publication process.

3. Abstract and Keywords

The abstract must be written in English and consist of 200–250 words in a single paragraph (justify). It should clearly present the objectives of the study, the methods used, the main findings, and the implications of the research. Authors are required to include 3–5 keywords or key phrases that represent the main topics of the article, which will help improve indexing and discoverability.

4. Introduction

The introduction section should provide a clear background of the research, explaining its importance and relevance in the field of biology education. Authors must refer to at least two previous studies to establish the research context and identify gaps, limitations, or unresolved issues in prior work. This section should also clearly state the research objectives and, if applicable, the hypotheses, demonstrating how the current study contributes to advancing existing knowledge.

5. Methods

The methods section describes how the research was conducted in a clear and systematic manner. It should include information about the research design, data collection procedures, participants or data sources, and data analysis techniques. For studies involving instruments, tools, or materials, detailed specifications must be provided to ensure replicability. In qualitative research, additional details such as the researcher’s role, research setting, duration, and validation strategies must also be included to ensure the credibility and trustworthiness of the findings.

6. Results and Discussion

The results and discussion must be presented as a single integrated section, which forms the core of the article. Authors should report only the final results of the data analysis without including detailed calculation processes. Tables and figures may be used to support the presentation of results, and each must be clearly described and referenced in the text. The discussion should interpret the findings using relevant theories, compare them with previous studies, and explain their implications, including potential contributions to theory development or refinement.

7. Conclusion

The conclusion section summarizes the main findings of the study in a concise manner, directly addressing the research objectives. It may also include recommendations or implications for future research, practice, or policy. Authors should avoid repeating detailed explanations from the discussion and instead focus on highlighting the key contributions of the study.

8. Acknowledgments

This section is optional and may be used to acknowledge individuals, institutions, or organizations that have contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship. Authors may also include information about research funding agreements or contract numbers if applicable.

9. Funding

Authors must clearly state the source of funding that supported the research, including grant numbers or contract identifiers if available. If the research did not receive any specific funding, authors should explicitly state that no external funding was obtained.

10. AI Declaration

Authors are required to disclose the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation of the manuscript in a transparent and responsible manner. The type of AI tools used and their specific functions, such as language editing or idea generation, must be clearly stated. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and all responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the manuscript remains with the authors. Any output generated by AI must be carefully reviewed and validated before submission.

11. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must be presented clearly and placed within the manuscript near their first citation. Figures should include captions below the images, while tables should have captions above them. All visual elements must be numbered sequentially and designed with good resolution and readability. Tables should use horizontal lines only, while figures must include clear borders and appropriate contrast to ensure clarity. (Times New Roman, 9pt, justify)

12. References

The reference list must include at least 10 relevant sources from reputable journals, books, or other scholarly publications, preferably published within the last 8 years. All references must follow the APA Style 7th Edition format, and authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley to ensure consistency. Each manuscript is also required to cite at least two articles published in GEN BIONIX: Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Biologi to strengthen the journal’s scholarly integration.

13. Formatting Guidelines

Manuscripts must follow the formatting specified in the journal template, including the use of Times New Roman (11 pt) for the main text with 1.0 line spacing. The title should use Times New Roman (14 pt, bold), Sub heading 1 (12 pt, bold), Sub heading 2 (12 pt, bold+italic), Sub heading 3 (12pt, italic), while abstracts and captions use Times New Roman font (9pt, justify).
